Privacy Policy
This policy explains what WeWrote processes, why we need it, and the deliberate limits on our analytics and tracking.
Information we collect
- Account information, such as your user ID, name, email address, and session details provided through shared authentication services.
- Workspace, space, document, and publishing metadata, plus the Markdown content you choose to store in WeWrote.
- GitHub installation, repository, and branch information when you enable the optional GitHub integration.
- Coarse usage events such as page views, searches, feedback, document or space identifiers, result counts, referrer hostname, device category, and country code.
- Client IP address and a coarse device class, processed transiently into keyed identifiers for password-unlock rate limits and feedback deduplication. The keyed identifiers, rather than the raw IP address, may be stored in KV or PostgreSQL.
What our analytics exclude
WeWrote's first-party product analytics are deliberately coarse. Analytics events do not store IP addresses, full user-agent strings, full referrer URLs, query strings, or document content. This analytics limit does not prevent transient request processing for security, rate limiting, and feedback deduplication as described above. We do not sell personal information or use third-party advertising trackers.
How we use information
- Provide authentication, authoring, storage, search, publishing, sharing, and support.
- Secure the Service, investigate abuse, and maintain reliable operations.
- Understand aggregate product usage and improve WeWrote.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Cookies and local storage
We use session cookies to keep signed-in users authenticated and scoped cookies to remember access to password-protected spaces. Browser storage may remember whether you submitted document feedback and may temporarily hold a GitHub installation identifier during setup. We do not use advertising cookies.
Service providers and integrations
We use Cloudflare for application hosting, object storage, caching, and coarse analytics; Neon for PostgreSQL hosting; shared authentication services for account sessions; and GitHub when you enable its integration. These providers process information on our behalf or at your direction to deliver the Service.
Retention and deletion
We keep information while your account is active and as needed to operate the Service, resolve disputes, protect against abuse, and meet legal obligations. Deleted content may remain for a limited period in backups, caches, or soft-deletion workflows before final removal. Contact us to request account or personal-information deletion.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, or delete personal information. You can also disconnect optional integrations and stop using the Service. Contact us to make a request.
Children and policy changes
WeWrote is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the Service changes and will revise the date above when we do.
